Kebijakan Penggunaan AI dan Etika Teknologi / AI and Technology Ethics Policy
A. Penulis
B. Mitra Bestari (Reviewer)
C. Editor
1. Editor dilarang mengunggah naskah atau informasi rahasia terkait naskah ke aplikasi AI pihak ketiga.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology Ethics Policy
Jurnal Netnografi Komunikasi (JNK) recognises the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI and large language models (LLMs), in research and scholarly writing. This policy governs the use of AI by authors, reviewers and editors to protect the integrity, originality and confidentiality of the publication process. It follows COPE guidance and applicable publication ethics standards.
A. Authors
1. AI tools of any kind may not be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship requires responsibility and accountability for the work, which only humans can bear.
2. Authors may use AI in a limited way to improve grammar, spelling and readability. AI must not be used to generate the core ideas, data, analysis, findings or conclusions of the research.
3. Any use of AI in preparing the manuscript or conducting the research must be disclosed in an AI Use Statement placed before the References, stating the tool, version, purpose and the parts of the manuscript affected. If no AI was used, authors state: “The authors declare that no generative AI was used in preparing this manuscript.”
4. Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of the manuscript, including verifying facts and references produced with AI assistance. Fabricated or unverifiable references are treated as an ethical violation.
5. Images, figures or data generated or manipulated by AI are not permitted, unless AI is part of the research method and is described in detail in the Methods section.
6. Research that uses AI as a data analysis tool (for example automated text analysis or social media data processing) must describe the tool, parameters and validation procedure in the Methods section, and observe data protection and the privacy of online subjects.
B. Reviewers
1. Reviewers must not use AI to analyse or assess manuscripts.
2. Reviewers must not use AI to write review comments. Assessments and recommendations must be the reviewer’s own.
3. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts, in part or in full, to third-party AI applications. Doing so is a serious breach of manuscript confidentiality.
4. Violations result in removal from the JNK reviewer list and annulment of the review.
C. Editors
1. Editors must not upload manuscripts or confidential manuscript information to third-party AI applications.
2. Editorial decisions may not be delegated to AI and remain fully the editor’s responsibility.
3. Every submission is checked with Turnitin for similarity and Grammarly (AI Detector) for AI-generated content. These results support the editor’s judgement and are never the sole basis for a decision; manuscripts showing a high indication of AI-generated content are referred back to the authors for clarification.
4. Editors ensure every manuscript includes an AI Use Statement before it proceeds to review.
D. Handling Violations
Undisclosed AI use or breaches of this policy are handled in line with COPE guidance. Actions may include rejection, a request for revision, a correction, or retraction of a published article. Suspected violations may be reported to netnografiikom@usni.ac.id.
